Al Jazeera is an international news network headquatered in Doha, Qatar. Initially launched as an Arabic news and current affairs satellite TV channel with the same name, Al Jazeera has since expanded into a network with several outlets, including the Internet and specialty TV channels in multiple languages.

BBC News, based in Britain, is an oufit of British Broadcasting Corporation. It is the world's largest broadcast news organisation and generates about 120 hours of radio and television output each day, as well as online news coverage.


CNN
CNN

Cable News Network (CNN) is a US cable news broadcaster founded by Ted Turner. Upon its launch, CNN was the first channel to provide 24-hour television news coverage, and the first all-news television channel in the United States.



Newsweek
Newsweek

Newsweek is an American news magazine published in New York City, with 16 global editions. The second largest news magazine in the US behind TIME magazine, it merged with The Daily Beast in November 2010 after falling revenues.


The Economist
The Economist

The Economist is a news magazine based in London. Its focus is not just on economics, as its title suggests, but on a wide-ranging variety of issues across political, economic and business spheres. It occasionally publishes multiple-paged special reports featuring a particular theme or country.


The New York Times
The New York Times

The New York Times is an American daily newspaper founded and published in New York City since 1851. Although it remains both the largest local metropolitan newspaper in the United States as well as being third largest overall, behind the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Its owner The New York Times Company also publishes 18 other regional newspapers including the International Herald Tribune.

Time

TIME is an American news magazine published from America. An European edition (Time Europe) is published from London. Time Europe covers the Middle East, Africa and, since 2003, Latin America. An Asian edition (Time Asia) is based in Hong Kong. It is the largest news magazine published in the US.

Channel NewsAsia is an English-language pan-Asian news network based in Singapore and owned by MediaCorp. Started in March 1999, it is a major Asian news broadcaster with programmes telecast to more than 20 Asian countries and territories.


The Straits Times
The Straits Times

The Straits Times is an English-language daily broadsheet newspaper based in Singapore, owned by the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). It is the country's highest-selling paper, with a daily circulation of 388,500 in August 2006. As of 2008, it has an estimated readership of 1.23 million. The Straits Times was established in July 1845. After Singapore's independence from Malaysia in 1965, the paper became more focused on the island, leading to the creation of Malaysia's New Straits Times. Currently, the paper is Singapore's primary print news source. SPH also publishes two other dailies; the broadsheet The Business Times and The New Paper tabloid.


TODAY
TODAY

TODAY is a free English-language tabloid published by MediaCorp Press. It is distributed from Monday to Friday with a weekend edition on Saturday. There is no edition on Sunday. The newspaper is distributed to selected homes and at MRT stations, bus interchanges, selected food and beverage outlets, shopping malls and other public areas. There are two editions to the paper, a morning and an afternoon edition. TODAY's daily readership is around 621,000, or 17% of Singapore's reader base, with more than half of its readers being professionals, managers, executives and business people.It is the second most-read English-language newspaper in Singapore, after The Straits Times.

Asia Sentinel

Asia Sentinel is a web-based Asian regional publication focussed on news, business, arts and culture. The site was launched in August 2006. "Asia Sentinel was created to provide a platform for news, analysis and opinion on national and regional issues in Asia. It is independent of all governments and major media enterprises. It is open to contributions not only from journalists but from professionals in fields such as finance, diplomacy, science and the arts. It has no ideology other than a belief in the benefits of a free media. It will not publish editorials but give free rein to diverse opinions," says the founders' statement on the site.


TED
TED

TED (Technology Entertainment and Design) is a global set of conferences curated by the American private non-profit Sapling Foundation, formed to disseminate "ideas worth spreading". Since June 2006, the talks have been offered for free viewing online, under a Creative Commons license, through TED.com. As of July 2010, over 700 talks are available free online. By January 2009 they had been viewed 50 million times; In July 2010, the viewing figure stands at more than 290 million, attracted a still growing global audience. TED was founded in 1984 as a one-off event, and the conference was held annually from 1990 in California. TED's early emphasis, was largely technology and design, consistent with a Silicon Valley center of gravity. The events are now held in the U.S. as well as in Europe and Asia, offering live streaming of the talks. They address an increasingly wide range of topics within the research and practice of science and culture. The speakers are given a maximum of 18 minutes to present their ideas in the most innovative and engaging ways they can. Past presenters include Bill Clinton, Jane Goodall, Malcolm Gladwell, Al Gore, Gordon Brown, Bill Gates, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and many Nobel Prize winners.


TR Emeritus
TR Emeritus (formerly Temasek Review) is a website with articles written about Singapore's socio-political affairs, with supposed independent perspectives which however tend to be anti-government in nature.


The Online Citizen
The Online Citizen

The Online Citizen is a website similar in nature to TR Emeritus though its perspectives tend to be less anti-government in nature compared to TR Emeritus.
